When to Use

Condit­ional
used to talk about hypoth­etical situations and probab­ilities and to make polite requests Ex: Escribiría unas cartas.
Future
The Spanish simple future is used to talk about what will or shall happen. EX:Llo­rarán al final de esa película.
Imperfect
used to describe past habitual actions or to talk about what someone was doing when they were interr­upted by something else. EX:Todos los sábados las mujeres iban de compras.
Preterito
Generally, the preterite is used for completed actions (actions that have definite beginning and end points.) EX:Fui al baile anoche.
Subjun­ctive Past Perfect
used to talk about hypoth­etical situations in the past, past condit­ionals, and past actions that preceded other past actions. EX:Si hubier­a/h­ubiese sabido, habría venido.
Past Perfect
used to talk about a past action that happened prior to another action in the past. EX:Habías cantado en la fiesta cuando llegué.
