Lexical cohesion

In text, lexical cohesion is the result of chains of related words that contribute to the continuity of lexical meaning.

These lexical chains are a direct result of units of text being "­about the same thing,­" and finding text structure involves finding units of text that are about the same thing.

CRAAP stands for Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose.

Justif­ication

The action of showing something to be right or reason­able.

Academic Prose Style is a style of writing that is produced by students, profes­sors, and invest­iga­tors.

Academic writing tends to be grounded in textual and empirical evidence.

Appeals to logos are privileged over appeals to ethos and pathos.

Rationale

Definition
An explan­ation of contro­lling principles of opinion, belief, practice, or phenomena.

Hedging

Hedging is a strategy that tries to limit risks in financial assets.

It uses financial instru­ments or market strategies to offset the risk of any adverse price movements.

Put another way, investors hedge one investment by making a trade in another.
