Origin: Reddish bone marrow afyer birth. In embryonic stage, they are produced from liver and spleen.

Origin number per second: 20 lacs or 2 million


Shape: Round and biconcave
Presence of nucleus: During their origin, the contain nucleus. Within few minutes, it is replaced by haemog­lobin.
Other cellular organelle: Due to the presence of haemog­lobin otehr cellular organelles are absent.
Presence of protein: Globulin
