Reversible and Irreve­rsible reactions

Reversible reaction: A reaction in which not only the reactant react to form product but also the products react to form reactants under the same conditions is called reversible reaction. In general, a reaction that not only takes place in the forward direction but, also in the reverse direction.
Irreve­rsible reactions:A reaction which cannot take place in reverse direction is called irreve­rsible reaction.
 

Equi­lib­rium

A reaction is in equili­brium when the rate of forward reaction is equal to the rate of backward reaction. Only the reversible reaction can attain equili­brium.
