This is a draft cheat sheet. It is a work in progress and is not finished yet.
Terminology
Vestigial structures=Leftover parts of an organism that serves no purpose |
Speciation=New species formed by seperation/isolation |
Analogous Structure=Same structure, different construction |
Evolution=change in the adaptive traits accumulated over successive generations |
Stabilizing Selection=Average expression -> fittest |
Directional Selection=Extreme trait -> fittest |
Bidirectional Selection=The extremes of two groups become more favorable |

Evidence of Evolution
Direct Evidence |
Fossils (Radioactive dating needed for accurate dating) |
Indirect Evidence |
-Comparative Embryology (Ontogeny Recaputates Phylogeny) -Comparative Anatomy(Homologous & Vestigial Structures) -Comparative biochemistry(DNA & Protein Analysis) -Geographic Distribution(Isolation=genetic differences) |
