This is a draft cheat sheet. It is a work in progress and is not finished yet.

Terminology

Vestigial structures=Leftover parts of an organism that serves no purpose
Speciation=New species formed by seperation/isolation
Analogous Structure=Same structure, different construction
Evolution=change in the adaptive traits accumulated over successive generations
Stabilizing Selection=Average expression -> fittest
Directional Selection=Extreme trait -> fittest
Bidirectional Selection=The extremes of two groups become more favorable

Evidence of Evolution

Direct Evidence
Fossils (Radioactive dating needed for accurate dating)
Indirect Evidence
-Comparative Embryology (Ontogeny Recaputates Phylogeny)
-Comparative Anatomy(Homologous & Vestigial Structures)
-Comparative biochemistry(DNA & Protein Analysis)
-Geographic Distribution(Isolation=genetic differences)
