NO NAKA DE Cheat Sheet (DRAFT) by

NO NAKA DE NO NAKA DE NO NAKA DE NO NAKA DE

This is a draft cheat sheet. It is a work in progress and is not finished yet.

The key is to understand what kind of “inside” Japanese is talking about:
の中で
= inside a space, within a group, or within someone's thoughts, feelings, or personal world.
= within a period of time, among a set of things, or while a particular condition still exists.

Literal image: within a boundary or before that boundary passes

に marks the time or range within which something happens, or a subset selected from a group.

A defined range

I want to have various experiences while I'm still young.

The nuance is not simply “during youth.” It suggests before youth ends and the opportunity changes or disappears.
= inside my personal world: my thoughts, feelings, values, memories, or way of judging something.

で marks the place, situation, or domain where an action, judgment, or event occurs.

Something changed inside me.

The change is happening in your inner world, not necessarily in your physical body.

Please choose three things from among these.

Here, we use 中から rather than のうちに because we are selecting things from a group.
