-A gland is a group of cells which are specia­lised to secrete chemicals (aka hormones) and are secreted directly into the bloods­tream.

-Can be steroids, proteins, glycop­rot­eins, polype­ptides, amines, or tyrosine deriva­tives.
-Secreted directly into the blood when a gland is stimul­ated.
