Classi­fic­ation

Community acquired (CAP)
Onset of symptoms begins in outpatient or within 48hrs of hospital admission
Hospital acquired (HAP)
PNA not incubating at admission that occurs ≥48 hours after admission
Ventil­ato­r-a­sso­ciated (VAP)
Occurs >48hrs after endotr­acheal intubation
