drugs that mimic or interfere with the functioning of the SNS by affecting the release or action of epinephrine & norepinephrine |
Direct & Indirect Sympathomimetics
Some adrenergics are indirect acting, where they stimulate the catacholamines of our own (hormones/ chemicals) to activate the SNS) |
Direct acting bind directly with receptor (such as nor-epinephrine) |
Alpha-1 Receptors
Vasoconstriction, increase peripheral resistance, increase BP, increase closure of internal sphincter of bladder, mydriasis (pupil dilation) |
