Convection Currents
Convection currents occur when hot air that is heated up from the equator rises and heads towards the poles. By the time it gets to the poles, it is cold, so it takes the cold airs place, starting to head back to the equator get heated up and go back into the loop. They are in both the north and south hemispheres |
Prevailing Winds
Polar Easterlies, above 60° N or S |
Mid-Latitude Westerlies, in between 60° N/S and 30° N/S |
Southeast/Northeast Tradewinds, in between 30° N/S and 0° N/S |
