- Definition : Measuring device i.e used for the measur­ement of linear dimensions - Measure till 0.01 cm - Formula : the smallest reading within main scale/ Number of divisions within vernier scale THEN... OA = OB - AB - Inner Jaw :Measures the size i.e inside the object / measures the size of the object - Outer Jaw : Measures the size i.e outside the object / measures the size of the object - Screw Clamp: Positions the Jaw - Stem : Checks the depth of an object
- Measures till 0.001 cm - The Screw Gauge is an instrument to measure the dimensions of very small objects upto 0.01 mm.The Screw Gauge consists of aU shaped metal frame.A hollow cylinder is attached to one end of the frame. Grooves are cut on the inner surface of the cylinder through which a screw passes. On the cylinder parallel to the axis of the screw a scale is graduated in millimeter called Pitch Scale.
Lower meniscus should be read if water is put into a cylinder and the upper meniscus should be read if there is mercury present in the cylinder
