What is Civics?
Civics is the study of the duties and rights of citizens.
What's the difference between a duty and a right?

What is government?
Government is the ruling authority for a community. |
What is citizenship?
Citizenship is the rights and duties of citizens.
- Dates back to more than 2,500 years to ancient Greece and Rome
- Natural-born citizens are any person born in the United States
- Naturalized citizens can become a citizen using a legal process - MUST be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Citizen is a member of a community who owes their loyalty to a government and in turn are entitled to protection from the government.
(Example: Students sue Rhode Island over lack of Civics education). |
