What is a network

Two or more connected computers that can share resources. Resources are:
- Data
- Devices
- Applic­ations
- Other connec­tions

The local Area Network

 

Common Network Components

Workst­ations
Powerfull computers whose resources are available to other users on the network.
Servers
Even more powerful computers serving particular services to the computers that request them.
Hosts
Loose termin­ology that can refer to about anything with an IP address.
