Equipment - Electrical

Switch
An electrical component that breaks or closes an electric circuit.
Circuit
Breaker
Protects an electrical circuit from
overcurrent/overload using switches.
ACB
AC Breaker
Transformer
A device used to either increase (step up) or decrease (stepdown) voltage.
Current
Transformers
Converts primary current into secondary current.
SST
Station service transf­ormer -a transfomer that steps down the voltage to be used by customer.
ACP
AC Panel - A circuit breaker panel that is a main distri­bution point for electrical circuits.
Fuse
A device that protects electrical circuit from overcu­rrent using metal wire that melts when too much current flows.
VFI
Motor Interr­upted Fault Interr­upter - Cuts off power if a person recieves a shock.
Conduit
A tube or trough that protects electrical wiring.
HPC
High Power Charging.
Fused Disconnect
The combin­ation between of a switch to disconnect the circuit and a fuse to shut the circuit off.

Equipment - Teleco­mmu­nic­ations

FPP
Fibre-­optic Patch Panel - an interface panel that connect multiple optical fiber cables and optical equipment.
CT Enclosure
Enclosures in which current transf­ormers are mounted in. They are used to prevent electr­ocu­tion.
E-House
Pre-fa­bri­cated substa­tions used to operate the industrial site they are installed on.
 

Equipment - Solar

PV Module
Photov­oltaic modules captures solar energy to transform into sustai­nable energy.
Inverter
A device that converts DC to AC.
Central Inverter
Centra­lizes the power that is produced by the plant, each power block will have on central inverter.
String Inverter
An inverter for smaller sections of the array.
Microinverter
Similar to the string inverter however they are installed beneath each solar panel.
Combiner Box
Brings the output of several solar strings together.
DCD
DC Disconnect - A switch that completes or interrupts the flow of DC electr­icity.
Power Optimizer
A DC-DC converter that takes DC power and converts it to a different voltage and current optimal for the inverter.
By-Pass Diode
Wires that provide an alternate current when a solar panel is shaded or faulty.
String
A series of solar panels connected together.
BESS
Battery energy storage system - an electr­och­emical device that charges from the grid or a power plant and discharges the energy when needed.
P
Positive DC Cable.
N
Negative DC Cable.
DC Homeruns
Strings that run from the combiner box to the inverter.
