Useful tips for the care of a ball python
Temperature and HumidityAmbient Temperature | 80-85°F | Basking Temperature | 88-93°F | Humidity | 50-60% |
Frozen/Thawed FoodWhen storing frozen/thawed food, keep it in the freezer.
When defrosting, do not use the microwave. Instead, put the mouse/rat in a ziplock bag and keep it submerged in warm water until it is ready. The heat is necessary for the snake to believe the mouse is real and alive. |
Make sure the mouse or rat is fully defrosted! If the core is still frozen, it can hurt the snake's insides.

The snake's meal should never be wider than the snake's girth.
| | HidesHides should be closed all around except for one entrance in order to minimize stress to the snake.
There should be a hide on both sides of the cage. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that both hides are identical in every way, but it may be fine if they are both the same size.
The hide's entrance should be slightly larger than the thickest part of the snake's body. |
