The genitive plural of nouns is formed from
their nominative SINGULAR.
To form the genitive plural of feminine nouns, usually you simply remove the
final “а”. But, if you have a group of consonants, you need to insert the vowels “о”
or “е” between the consonants. (“е” appears mostly after “ш, ж, ч, щ”).
For example: де́вушка (nom. sing.) --> де́вушк --> нет де́вушек (gen. pl.)
Remember that you should never write “ы” after г, к, х, ж, ч, ш, щ. Write “и”
instead. For example, when forming the genitive singular of the word “подру́га”,
you have to write “подру́ги”, and not “подру́гы”. |
