About danieljorge4391
- Profile Des - Welcome to ArtAliveGallery. Paresh Maity paints large canvases that hold bright color and quick brush marks. The scenes show rivers, fields, temples, markets and people at work or at rest. The paint sits thick in some places plus thin in others - light jumps off the surface. Village roofs, boat sails or a face may appear twice in the same picture, tilted or cropped, to stress movement. The reds, yellows and blues come straight from the tube and are not toned down - the picture feels louder than the real place. Maity was born in Tamluk, West Bengal but also he still draws the delta land, the tides and the festivals he saw as a boy. He sketches every day in small notebooks - later he enlarges those lines onto canvas with charcoal - covers them with layers of acrylic or watercolor. The same fish shaped boat or banyan tree shows up in show after show, but each time it is placed under a different sky or beside a different wall - the memory stays fresh. Collectors who want to buy or view the paintings find them at ArtAlive Gallery in New Delhi.
